Holy crap, I won.

My writer friend Penny Duane told me about the Fraser Val­ley Writers’ School writ­ing con­test, so I entered. Then I for­got all about it.

Today I had an e‑mail from Penny, who said “Con­grat­u­la­tions on being the big win­ner in the Fraser Val­ley writ­ing contest.”

I says Pardon??

I had­n’t heard any­thing from the con­test, so I checked the web­site, and sure enough, there’s my name. I am floored. Looks like I’m going to the Sur­rey Inter­na­tion­al Writers’ Con­fer­ence after all! I was­n’t going to be able to go because I’m going to the World Fantasy Con­ven­tion in Toronto in Novem­ber, and there’s no way I could fin­an­cially man­age both. This is won­der­ful news, because I love the Sur­rey Conference!

Still trem­bling a bit, and def­in­itely in shock.
